Summary of this tour:

Balkans - Croatia, Montenegro, Albania

Day 1:

We meet at the departure gate of our flight at Frankfurt International Airport. Recommended check-in time, 2,5 hours prior to flight departure. We fly with Lufthansa at 4:15 pm from Frankfurt International airport (Terminal 1) to Split (Croatia). Arrival in Split at 5:55 pm. Bus transfer to our booked 5-star hotel in Slano-Dubrovnik. Hotel check-in and late dinner (Croatian cold plate).

Day 2:

Buffet breakfast and hotel check-out. City tour of Dubrovnik. This town is known and popular because of its wonderful location and as a destination for many cruise ships. The city conveys a special atmosphere like no other. The thousand-year-old city with its historic core looks back on a unique political and cultural past. The lively and charming city is rightly called one of the most beautiful on the Adriatic, inspiring many artists and intellectuals. Afterwards we drive to Budva. Because of its very mild climate, Budva is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Montenegrin coast. The old town lies on a peninsula and protrudes into the Bay of Budva. The buildings in the old town have been shaped accordingly by the Venetian period. The citadel and campanile tower over the city. You can take a nice walk along the city wall surrounding the old town, which offers fantastic photo opportunities. After our city tour, we check-in to our hotel and have dinner.

Day 3:

Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we start with a city tour of Cetinje. Cetinje is the former capital and residence of Montenegro. It lies seemingly dreamily in the Cetinje plateau and is surrounded by high limestone cliffs. A visit to the city is also a journey into Montenegro's past, which has left its mark on literally every street corner. Cetinje is a historically significant town. This is very convenient for the visitor, as all sights and museums can be easily reached on foot. Ulica Njegoseva is an ideal starting point. It is the main street, runs right through the city and offers a good orientation point. From here you can reach almost all of the important sightseeing points in just a few minutes.  We then visit King Nikola's residence which was built in 1871 and now serves as a museum. The building was originally planned as a residence for the wife of Prince Danilo, King Nikola's predecessor. You will see the weapons room, an archive with documents from the 14th century, as well as furniture and other items belonging to King Nikola. Our next stop is Njegusi, a small village in Montenegro known for its picturesque location in the mountains. It is located about 20 kilometers northwest of the capital Podgorica and is famous for its traditional architecture, cultural heritage and culinary specialties. Dinner in the hotel, Budva.

Day 4:

Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we start with an excursion to lake Skadar. Lake Skadar is the largest in the Balkans, but in many places, it feels more like a river. It is partly overgrown with water lilies, and there are many islands and islets in the lake, making it a true fish and bird paradise. The town of Shkodra is on the Albanian side and gives the lake its name. Rozafa Castle towers over the city, from up there you have a breathtaking view of the oldest city in Albania and the lake that belongs to Albania and Montenegro. Dinner in the hotel, Budva.

Day 5:

Buffet breakfast in the hotel. At the foot of the Lovcen Mountains lies Kotor on the bay of the same name, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List because of its churches and palaces of rich noble families. Yacht after yacht are lined up along the promenade. This view with the lively old town in the background reveals pure life. The city gate is the entrance to the old town. During the tour you will also visit the Marienmuseum, which houses a very interesting and definitely worth seeing exhibition about the history of local seafaring from its beginnings to the present. You will also take a boat trip in the Bay of Kotor to the church island of Gospa od Skrpjela. The “Maria vom Felsen” church, built in the 15th century, is richly decorated inside and is worth a visit. The island is associated with a beautiful custom that your tour guide will be happy to tell you about. Dinner in the hotel, Budva.

Day 6:

Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Hotel check-out. Herceg Novi is located at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. The centerpiece is the three-kilometer-long “Pet Danica” walking path, lined with countless restaurants and stalls. The architectural mix of styles from oriental buildings to baroque gives the place, located on a steep slope with long stairs, a touch of elegance. On a walking tour you will see the beautiful old town, the Clock Tower - the city's symbol - and Herceg Stjepan Square with its Romanesque-Gothic and oriental buildings.
