The Battles in the Meuse-Argonne 1918 & the Battle of Verdun 1916

Sergeant York, the “Lost Battalion”, Colonel George S. Patton, Captain Harry S. Truman and General “Black Jack” Pershing – all on this tour. We will visit the Memorial at Montfaucon and honor the brave warriors of the AEF at the American cemetery at Romagne-sous-Montfaucon. 14 246 soldiers found their last resting place here in the soil of the commune Romagne.

In 1916, the French and German armies fought a bitter, bloody and long battle on the now legendary battlefields of Verdun, France. This battle, conducted primarily from February to December 1916, resulted in nearly 1 000 000 casualties for the two armies. The costs of this battle almost broke the French Army and ruined German offensive capability in the west until 1918. The tortured ground at Verdun still holds the unknown graves of over 100 000 Soldiers.
