Itinerary (subject to change)

DAY 1: Check in time at Frankfurt Airport in the morning. We fly direct from Frankfurt to Edinburgh (11:05 am-12:00 pm). After meeting your Interra Reisen guide, we walk to our bus and travel to Glasgow. Upon arrival, we start with a sightseeing tour of Glasgow with our local guide. Afterwards we check in to our downtown hotel. Free time for shopping or a pub-crawl. Your guide will make suggestions!

DAY 2: After breakfast and check out we depart for the Highlands of Scotland. We stop for picture at the „bonnie, bonnie banks“ of Loch Lomond. We travel onwards through Rob Roy Country of Clans MacGregor and Campbell to Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most famous glens, site of the 1692 massacre of the Clan MacDonald and featured in the James Bond film “Skyfall”. Here we pause for a photo to soak up the atmosphere in this haunting glen. Continuing, we stop in the Fort William area for lunch, then journey onwards, passing beneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before we enter the natural beauty of the Great Glen. Passing the Caledonian Canal and Fort Augustus we drive along the shore line of Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle. Loch Ness, famous for sightings of Nessie, the Loch Ness monster. Here we stop to explore the visitor center and the ruins of Urquhart Castle. Evening arrival in Inverness, check in at our booked hotel, directly at the river Ness. You might want to have dinner in the pubs nearby or in our hotel.

DAY 3: After a hearty breakfast, we start our excursion to the Isle of Skye. Today is our second day we experience the beauty and rich scenery of the Highlands. We will stop at the much-admired Eilean Donan Castle, backdrop for several films including the movie “Highlander”. After our visit, we continue and travel on to Portree, a charming fishing village and home of the famous Scottish Games on the Isle of Skye. After free time we drive back to our hotel in Inverness.

DAY 4: After breakfast and check out we travel from the Capital of the Highlands to the Whisky Distillery Dalwhinnie for a tasting of their whisky and handmade chocolates. Dalwhinnie Distillery is the winner of the “Best Distillery Tour in Scotland Award from Drinks International” in 2017! Afterwards we continue our journey to Blair Atholl Castle, home of the Atholl family for over seven centuries, where we can discover 750 years of Scottish history. Crossing the Grampian Mountains and the woodland scenery of Perthshire before reaching the city of Dundee, where we check in for a night’s rest. Evening is free for own activities.

DAY 5: After breakfast and check out, we enter the „Kingdom of Five“ to visit the beautiful medieval town of St. Andrews. Free time to enjoy a walk around the town, to see the oldest golf course in the world and Scotland‘s oldest university, where Prince William met Kate Middleton. In the afternoon, we depart for the Scottish capital with a short picture stop at the “Three Bridges”. Edinburgh - this splendid town is dominated by its Castle, towering over the gardens and shops of Princess Street. After a city tour, we end our exciting day on the Royal Mile, which connects the imposing Castle with the Palace of Holyrood House. Our hotel is located right in the historic center. After hotel check in and free time to freshen up, your last evening in Edinburgh could be highlighted by a “Scottish dinner” with music and folklore (extra).

DAY 6:This morning is on your own. Use the time for last minute shopping in the famous Royal Mile. In the afternoon, we depart for the airport and fly back to Frankfurt, Germany at 06:05 pm. Evening arrival 8:55 pm.

TOUR PRICE INCLUDES: Roundtrip flight with Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Edinburgh (non stop), including all fees and airport taxes, one piece of luggage (23 kg), transportation by Scottish motor-coach with WC, AC, reclining seats, 5 overnights with buffet breakfast in good middle class hotels (3-4 star) in Glasgow, Inverness, Dundee and Edinburgh, all hotels located downtown, all rooms with private facilities, one whisky tasting and distillery tour, entrance fee Eilean Donan Castle, Blair Atholl Castle and Urquhart Castle, all excursions included, all airport-hotel transfers in Scotland included, sightseeing and 2 city tours with local guide, service of an Interra Reisen tour escort, local guide and Scottish bus driver.

SINGLE ROOM SUPPLEMENT: € 495 for 5 nights. Persons booked on share basis must pay single supplement after the tour if no share was available. Share basis means double or triple occupancy.

SUPPLEMENTARY COSTS: Loch Ness cruise, appr. £ 30 per person. Scottish Folklore evening, appr. £ 85 per adult / £ 55 per child. Meals, personal expenses, tips.
