Namibia - Desert and Safari

Day 1:

Evening check in at the international Airport Frankfurt Terminal 1. We fly direct with Discover (Star Alliance - Lufthansa group) overnight to Windhoek, Namibia (9:05 pm – 07:10 am+).

Day 2:

After our arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, we will meet our guide and driver and pack our safari off-road vehicle and drive to the Capital of Namibia. You have the opportunity to do some shopping for the trip, including telephone cards and snacks. We continue the journey around midday and drive south. Our route takes us over the impressive Spreetshoogte Pass. After some short breaks to take breathtaking pictures, we’ll arrive in the Namib desert at our booked Lodge in the afternoon. Check in and dinner. Enjoy your first stunning evening in the desert.

Day 3:

This morning we get up early for your trip to the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei, where you will be rewarded by the play of light and shadow in the almost 300 m high dunes. Enjoy this spectacular landscape - a paradise for photographers. Climb one of the star-shaped dunes. A hearty breakfast is served under camel thorn trees in the valley. We also stop near ‘Dead Vlei’. Here you have the opportunity to hike into this cut-off valley that has existed for centuries with its dead trees in the middle of the dunes. Visit the rugged one Sesriem Canyon and return to the lodge for lunch. In the late afternoon you can take a 'sunset' drive to the natural marble mountains of this 25,000 ha large private nature reserve. Dinner in the desert under the stars.

Day 4:

After check out and a hearty breakfast we drive through the Namib desert and pass the Kuiseb and the Ghaub Pass on the way to the Atlantic coast. We’ll arrive during the afternoon. After hotel check into Namibia’s finest and oldest Hotel. The rest of the day is free. Browse the nearby shops for unique African souvenirs or stroll along the sea front promenade. Dinner today is at your own expense. Swakopmund has excellent restaurants – ask your tour guide for suggestions - the decision is yours. Overnight stay with breakfast at our superb Hotel.

Day 5:

After breakfast we start early and drive along the Atlantic Ocean to Walvis Bay. There we meet other passengers at the marina and take a ride with a catamaran boat across the beautiful lagoon to Pelican Point. The boats are often accompanied by playing dolphins, seals and pelicans... an experience like no other. Walvis Bay is known for its oyster farms and of course we are treated to a variety of oysters, other snacks and drinks on board. We will return  around midday. Ask your tour guide if you are interested in various activities, such as quad biking or camel riding (bookings need to be done in advance). Dinner on your own. Last overnight in Swakopmund.

Day 6:

After breakfast and check out we continue our journey and plan a stop in Omaruru. We arrive there for lunch and a ‘gin tasting’. After this break we drive via Outjo to our booked private Safari Lodge covering 24,000 ha near the Etosha National Park. After checking into our Hilltop Chalets you have the time to relax, to discover the surroundings and to freshen up in the pool.  Afterwards enjoy the enticing cuisine and drinks on the open restaurant terrace, while watching a large variety of game at the waterhole. In the evening from 8-10 pm you can join a night game drive in the resort (€ 39 per person extra, we take bookings in advance).

Day 7:

After breakfast, you might have to share your breakfast with a family of Mongoose 😉, a day full of exciting animal observations lies ahead of you. We go on our first game viewing trip in the Etosha National Park. Etosha National Park is unique within Africa. The park's main feature is the salt pan, which is visible even from space. Despite this, there is an abundant wildlife population here that congregates at waterholes, so animal sightings are guaranteed. Additionally, Etosha National Park is one of the most accessible reserves in Namibia and Southern Africa. We will drive to different waterholes in the Etosha National Park. Elephants, hyenas, antelopes, giraffes and zebras gather there and can be observed extensively. Over 114 different mammals live here and many of them are endangered species, such as the white rhinoceros. But of course it is a highlight of every safari when the big wild cats appear on the scene. The seemingly endless whiteness of the salt pan never ceases to impress. Our included lunch is planned at Halali Resort in the National Park. In the afternoon we leave the Park and drive back to our Lodge. Free time and dinner.

Day 8:

Today we start early and have another day of game drives in Etosha National Park with our experienced guides. Our guides are very knowledgeable, know the area and are connected to a network that provides information about animal sightings. Finding a good position and waiting for something to happen often leads to rewarding results at one of the park's many waterholes. Dinner and overnight stay at our Lodge.

Day 9:

After breakfast and check out we depart via Outjo, Otjiwarongo and Okahandja to Windhoek. Arrival in the early afternoon at our luxury first class hotel.  The rest of the day can be used as freetime or you may like to join a wine tasting. The pride of the Hotel is the - Wine Cellar – bears the largest collection of carefully selected South African vintages in Namibia. The cellar is built into the mountain rock and is the ideal meeting place for smaller groupsYour guide will make suggestions. Dinner at the Hotel.
