Day 1:
We gather at the departure gate for our flight at Frankfurt International Airport. It is recommended to check in at least 2.5 hours before departure. Our Lufthansa flight departs at 4:15 pm from Terminal 1 of Frankfurt Airport, heading to Dubrovnik, Croatia. We will arrive in Dubrovnik at 6:10 pm. After arrival, a bus transfer will take us to our luxurious 5-star hotel in Slano-Dubrovnik. Upon arrival at the hotel, we will check in, followed by a late dinner.
Day 2:
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, we check out and embark on a city tour of Dubrovnik. Known for its stunning location and as a popular stop for many cruise ships, Dubrovnik offers a unique atmosphere like no other city. The historic old town, dating back over a thousand years, has a rich political and cultural past that adds to its charm. This lively and picturesque city is often considered one of the most beautiful on the Adriatic, and its breathtaking views have inspired countless artists, intellectuals and film makers (Game of Thrones). Following our exploration of Dubrovnik, we head to Budva, a popular coastal resort on the Montenegrin coast, known for its mild climate. The Old Town of Budva sits on a peninsula and juts out into the Bay of Budva, showcasing buildings shaped by Venetian architecture. The citadel and the bell tower rise majestically over the town. You can take a pleasant walk along the ancient city walls, which offer fantastic photo opportunities. After our city tour, we will check into our superior rooms at the hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 3:
After a buffet breakfast, we begin the day with a city tour of Cetinje, the former capital and royal residence of Montenegro. Nestled in the Cetinje plateau and surrounded by limestone cliffs, Cetinje feels almost dreamlike. A visit to this historical town offers a journey through Montenegro’s past, with landmarks from every era. Its main street, Ulica Njegoseva, provides easy access to many important sites. From here, we will visit the residence of King Nikola, built in 1871 and now a museum. Here, we will explore rooms filled with historical items, including weapons, documents from the 14th century, and personal belongings of King Nikola. Next, we will visit the village of Njegusi, nestled in the mountains, known for its scenic beauty and traditional architecture. We'll stop to try the great ham and other culinary specalties before we return to Budva for some relaxing free time at the beach or at the hotel pool. Dinner will be served at our hotel in Budva.
Day 4:
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for an excursion to Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans. While it is technically a lake, its winding shape and the lush water lilies give it the feel of a river. The lake is a haven for birdwatchers and fishermen, with many islands and islets scattered throughout. We will also visit the town of Shkodra, located on the Albanian side of the lake, where we can admire Rozafa Castle. From the castle’s hilltop vantage point, we’ll enjoy stunning views of both the lake and the ancient city of Shkodra. Dinner will be served at our hotel in Budva.
Day 5:
After a buffet breakfast and check-out, we head to Kotor, located at the foot of the Lovcen Mountains on the Bay of Kotor. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its historic churches, palaces, and noble families' estates. The bay is filled with luxury yachts, and the lively Old Town is a picturesque backdrop for the waterfront promenade. During the tour, we will visit the Maritime Museum, which showcases the fascinating history of local seafaring, from its origins to the present day. In the afternoon, we’ll take a boat tour of the Bay of Kotor, stopping at the island of Gospa od Skrpjela. This small island is home to a 15th-century church, richly decorated inside, and is steeped in local legend, which our tour guide will gladly share. Afterward, we continue our boat cruise and meet the bus near Herceg Novi. We’ll check into our hotel in Herceg Novi and enjoy dinner.
Day 6:
After breakfast at the hotel, we check out and begin a walking tour of Herceg Novi, located at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. The town's centerpiece is the "Pet Danica" promenade, which stretches for three kilometers, lined with restaurants and stalls. The town’s architecture is a mix of styles, ranging from oriental to baroque, giving it a unique charm. During our tour, we will visit the Clock Tower, the symbol of the town, as well as Herceg Stjepan Square, surrounded by Romanesque-Gothic and oriental buildings. After the tour, we will meet for a Farewell lunch before we start with our transfer back to Dubrovnik Airport, where say goodbye to our local guide. Our return flight departs at 6:55 pm with Lufthansa, arriving at Frankfurt Airport at 8:55 pm.
