Itinerary (subject to change)
DAY 1:
We begin our journey with a morning check-in at Frankfurt Airport and a direct flight to Edinburgh (11:05 am – 12:00 pm). Upon arrival, your friendly Interra Reisen tour guide will welcome you and escort you to our comfortable coach. Our first destination is Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, known for its lively art scene, impressive Victorian architecture, and warm-hearted people. During a guided city tour, we’ll discover Glasgow’s highlights — from George Square to the striking Glasgow Cathedral and the vibrant Merchant City. Afterward, we check in to our centrally located 4-star hotel. The evening is free to explore at your own pace: enjoy some shopping, visit a cozy pub, or join an informal pub crawl to experience Glasgow’s legendary nightlife.
DAY 2:
After breakfast, we say farewell to Glasgow and venture north into the Highlands — Scotland’s wild and romantic heart. Our first stop is the shimmering “bonnie, bonnie banks” of Loch Lomond, surrounded by rolling hills and tranquil waters. This is the perfect place for memorable photos. We then journey through Rob Roy Country, rich in legends of clan history and rebellion, and continue to the hauntingly beautiful Glencoe Valley, the site of the 1692 MacDonald Clan tragedy. Fans of James Bond’s Skyfall will recognize its dramatic scenery instantly. A lunch break awaits us near Fort William, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. We then follow the Great Glen northward, passing the Caledonian Canal and picturesque Fort Augustus before reaching the legendary Loch Ness. Here, we visit Urquhart Castle, explore its visitor center, and maybe — just maybe — catch a glimpse of the elusive “Nessie.” In the evening, we arrive in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, and check into our luxurious 4-star spa hotel. Enjoy a delightful three-course dinner and unwind with a drink in the Whisky Bar Lounge.
DAY 3:
After a rich Scottish breakfast, we embark on a full-day excursion to the Isle of Skye, one of Scotland’s most stunning and mythical islands.
Our route takes us past mountains and lochs to the world-famous Eilean Donan Castle, dramatically situated on a small island where three lochs meet — a favorite filming location for movies such as Highlander. We then cross the Skye Bridge and arrive in Portree, the island’s charming capital, known for its colorful harbor houses and vibrant local life. You’ll have time to enjoy lunch, browse local shops, or simply take in the breathtaking scenery. Later, we return to our hotel in Inverness, filled with impressions of Skye’s wild beauty and legends. The evening is yours to relax — perhaps with another wee dram of whisky or a stroll along the River Ness.
DAY 4:
Today we begin our journey southward, stopping first at the Dalwhinnie Distillery — one of Scotland’s highest and most scenic distilleries. Here, we’ll enjoy a guided whisky tasting paired with handmade chocolates — a true treat for the senses! Our next stop is the majestic Blair Atholl Castle, the ancestral home of the Atholl family for over 700 years. Discover centuries of Scottish history as you wander through the beautifully preserved rooms and gardens. Afterward, we take a break in the charming town of Pitlochry, nestled amidst the rolling Grampian Mountains. Enjoy lunch, explore local boutiques, or sample some Scottish shortbread before we continue our scenic drive through the lush woodlands of Perthshire. In the evening, we reach Dundee, a dynamic coastal city with a mix of history and innovation. We check in to our stylish 4-star boutique hotel, ideally located downtown for evening exploration and dining on your own.
DAY 5:
After breakfast, we cross into the “Kingdom of Fife” and visit St. Andrews — a town steeped in history and charm. Stroll through its medieval streets, see the ruins of the ancient cathedral, and visit the world’s oldest golf course. This is also where Prince William met Kate Middleton during their university days. We then continue toward Edinburgh, making a short photo stop at the impressive “Three Bridges,” which span the Firth of Forth in a magnificent display of engineering. Upon arrival in Scotland’s capital, we begin a guided city tour. Explore the majestic Edinburgh Castle, overlooking the city, stroll along Princes Street, and wander the historic Royal Mile connecting the Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Our hotel is located right on the Royal Mile — perfect for enjoying Edinburgh’s magical evening atmosphere. Optional: join a traditional Scottish dinner with live music, dancing, and folklore to celebrate your last night in Scotland.
DAY 6:
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Edinburgh. Use the time for some last-minute shopping on the Royal Mile or simply relax in one of the city’s many cozy cafés.
In the afternoon, we transfer to the airport for our return flight to Frankfurt (departure 6:05 pm, arrival 9:00 pm). Farewell, Scotland! Take with you not only souvenirs but also memories of dramatic landscapes, rich history, warm people, and the unique charm that makes Scotland truly unforgettable.
