Itinerary (subject to change)
DAY 1:
Start your day with a smooth morning check-in at Frankfurt International Airport, Terminal 1. Our Lufthansa flight departs from Frankfurt at 09:00 AM, bound for the enchanting city of Istanbul. After a comfortable flight, we'll arrive in Istanbul at 1:05 PM, ready to explore this vibrant metropolis. Istanbul, a city straddling two continents and bridging the cultures of East and West, is one of the oldest cities in the world, brimming with history, charm, and beauty. As we begin our adventure, you’ll be captivated by the city's unique blend of ancient heritage and modern vitality. Prepare your taste buds for an unforgettable culinary experience, as Istanbul is renowned for its diverse and flavorful cuisine. This evening, we’ll gather for a delightful dinner at a local seafood restaurant. Let the journey begin with a warm and cozy get-together, as we embark on this unforgettable exploration of one of the world’s most fascinating cities.
DAY 2:
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, our exploration of Istanbul's fascinating Old Town begins. Our first stop is the Hippodrome, originally completed in 333 AD by Emperor Constantine the Great. This grand arena was once the beating heart of the Byzantine Empire, where people and rulers alike gathered to witness chariot races and public events. Among its remarkable features are the Obelisk of Thutmose III, the Serpent Column, and the Brick Obelisk. Also nestled within the Hippodrome is the stunning German Fountain (Alman Cesmesi), a gift from Emperor Wilhelm II to the city. Just a short walk away, we’ll visit two of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks: the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, and the magnificent Hagia Sophia. The Blue Mosque, with its soaring domes and delicate blue tiles, is a true masterpiece of Ottoman architecture. Meanwhile, the Hagia Sophia, consecrated under Emperor Constantine the Great in 326 AD, is an architectural wonder that has stood the test of time. After being damaged and rebuilt twice, it was expanded to its current form by Emperor Justinian in the 6th century. With its awe-inspiring size and intricate design, this 1,500-year-old marvel remains one of the most ingenious spatial creations in the history of architecture. Following this cultural journey, you’ll have some free time to relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the local eateries. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our exploration with a visit to the Column of Constantine, a monumental landmark that once marked the center of the Byzantine Empire. Then, we’ll venture into the bustling Grand Bazaar, a vast maze of over 4,000 shops, offering everything from fine jewelry to spices, textiles, and souvenirs. It’s the perfect place to experience the lively energy of Istanbul while browsing unique treasures.
DAY 3:
After a delightful breakfast, get ready to step into the world of sultans and merchants as we embark on an unforgettable day of exploration. Our first stop is the majestic Topkapi Sarayi, the grand palace of the Ottoman sultans. With its opulent treasure chambers, exquisite courtyards, and stunning panoramic views of Istanbul, this historical palace offers a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the rulers who once resided here. As we wander through its halls, you’ll be transported to a time of royal splendor and intricate artistry. Next, we’ll visit the fascinating Yerebatan Sarayi, also known as the Basilica Cistern. This underground marvel, supported by 336 towering columns, was once the primary water reservoir for the Byzantine Empire. As you walk through the cool, dimly lit aisles, you’ll be amazed by the sheer scale of this ancient structure and its captivating atmosphere. In the afternoon, we have something truly special planned. We’ll take part in an excursion to witness the Whirling Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order, a mesmerizing spiritual ceremony that has been practiced for centuries. This unforgettable experience, included in the tour, will immerse you in the profound tradition of Sufism, where the dervishes spin in a trance-like state as a form of meditation and devotion. The elegance and serenity of the ritual are sure to leave a lasting impression, offering a unique glimpse into the spiritual heart of Istanbul.
DAY 4:
After a relaxing breakfast, get ready for one of the highlights of your trip – a leisurely boat cruise along the Bosphorus, the legendary strait that separates Europe and Asia. During this approximately two-hour journey, you’ll glide past an ever-changing panorama of Istanbul’s stunning waterfront. Sail beneath the city’s two impressive suspension bridges and take in views of majestic Ottoman palaces, charming summer villas, traditional wooden waterfront houses, and the imposing Rumeli Hisari fortress, built by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror before his siege of Constantinople. As we make our way back toward the Golden Horn, enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the water and the unique beauty of the city from this extraordinary perspective. In the evening, we come together for a memorable dinner show, which is included in your program. Delight in a delicious meal featuring local cuisine, accompanied by limited local drinks. As you dine, enjoy a vibrant cultural performance featuring traditional Anatolian folk dances and the captivating art of Oriental dance. It's a festive and colorful celebration of Turkish culture—an evening filled with rhythm, flavor, and unforgettable moments.
DAY 5:
This morning and early afternoon are yours to enjoy at your leisure. Take some time to relax, do some last-minute shopping, or soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Istanbul one final time. Perhaps enjoy a cup of Turkish tea or coffee while reflecting on the wonderful experiences of the past days. Later in the afternoon, we’ll transfer to Istanbul International Airport for our return journey. Our Lufthansa flight departs at 5:55 PM, bringing us comfortably back to Frankfurt, where we are scheduled to arrive at 8:00 PM. We hope you leave with unforgettable memories, beautiful impressions, and perhaps a longing to return to this fascinating city between two continents.
